How to Read Your Bill
YLWD's Bill Statement consists of five distinct areas, each of which contains vital information on your water and sewer usage.
Account Summary: Where you will find your account number, as well as the dates for which you are being billed. You should receive your billing statement approximately 10 days after the billing period ends (when your meter is read).
Water Usage: Lists the number of units used during the billing period. Although usage varies based on weather patterns and number of people in the home, YLWD residential customers typically use 25-30 units per month. You can also view your average daily usage in gallons (1 unit = 748 gallons) and a monthly comparison chart of your monthly usage as compared to last year.
Billing Details: This area lists your previous payments as well as your current billing charges. Water charges are separated by Water Usage Charge (per unit charge) and Basic Service Charge (based on the size of your meter). If applicable, the monthly Sewer Maintenance Charge is also located in this section, as well as the Total Amount Due for the current billing period.
Special Message: This area contains information on current YLWD programs that may be of interest and any important messages that YLWD needs to communicate.
Bill Pay Stub: This area highlights the most important information from the billing statement, including previous balance (if any), current charges and due date. Please note that current charges must be processed by YLWD PRIOR to the 27th day after the billing period ends. Payments dropped off after normal business hours and pending automatic payments will be considered to be delinquent. On the 27th day, the bill is considered delinquent and a late fee is assessed.
